Overfishing & climate change kept them stuck at "Vulnerable" since 2014. In Japan, they're eaten as kamaboko. But switching to another fish when one runs out just delays the crisis.

We need to look inside the "extinction box" we're handed. The down escalator won't be there forever.

🦗 Nach 45 Jahren wiederentdeckt

Die südafrikanische Kurzfühlerschrecke Prostalia granulata galt seit 1980 als verschollen. Im Dezember 2025 wurde sie im Umtamvuna Nature Reserve erneut nachgewiesen.

Die Art ist extrem selten, lebt in kleinen, isolierten Populationen & gilt laut #IUCN als vom Aussterben bedroht. Hauptbedrohungen sind Lebensraumverlust durch Landwirtschaft, Urbanisierung & invasive Pflanzen sowie Pestizidabdrift Macadamia-Plantagen.
