So much of modern living reminds me of the fables I was told as a child.
An emperor with no clothes.
A boy who cries wolf.
The family cow traded for a handful of beans.
In this light, the historic scam of alchemy -- claiming the ability to turn base metals into gold -- is quite a fine mirror analogy of today's gen Ai LLM scam.
So-called alchemists attempted to change things of lesser value into gold. But Ai and its promoters transmute vast quantities of valuable culture into slop.
The rest of us are expected to trade our treasured cows for beans as venture capitalists burn everything of real value to the ground.
In the meantime, writer Ed Zitron finds the fault in our quick-buck culture and the work-averse CEOs with the gleam of greed in their eyes who run it.
"These people don’t know how to build things that work anymore, and thus the only thing they can do is spend money and fire people. They believe in nothing other than growth, and one cannot exist on belief and hype alone, at least not forever."
