It was my Dad’s funeral yesterday. I don’t know why, but I felt the need to post the eulogy I gave. Maybe I thought he deserved some kind of public recognition – he was a lovely person and a great friend to many.

It was Dad’s funeral yesterday. I delivered a eulogy, somehow keeping it together. I wanted to recognise Dad here, so this is the speech I gave, remembering him as a wonderful father to my brother and me.

@Richr I did the same thing, posted my eulogy, last year when my dad died. I think it’s because I wanted there to be something that went on beyond him, something that would persist; if I were a sculptor or an artist I’d have made a statue or a painting, but what I do is write the web, so that’s what I knew, to craft a piece of for him. So something somewhere is always saying his name.

Sorry to hear your dad’s gone, pal. He sounds a sound guy.

@sil thanks Stu. Sounds like we were of the same mind – you’ve made sense of my actions
