This episode was totally screen-recorded and I had no issues with OBS+Wayland+Plasma+Krita. The full process was also commented (audio recording) and it's from A to Z: from scratch to posting. The scenario in Kate, to the panel making, text, everything fully in Krita 5.3 with the new text tool and comic panel tool.
Now I have over 20 hours of video editing to do in Kdenlive; many sequence will be accelerated as time-lapse. ETA of this big tutorial bonus: maybe start of june.
@davidrevoy wow, good luck with this undertaking!
@davidrevoy wonderfull 🙂 reeeeeally looking forward for when you'll publish your new Linux setup ❤️
@lazyerv This one is planned on Friday!  I have the full text done, but now I need to add all the screenshots and insert photos.
@davidrevoy Also fan of KDE Plasma and KDEnlive, but still running older Kubuntu with X11. Good to hear there is probably no need to fear of the upgrade incl. Wayland...

@davidrevoy Did you do the commenting while you drew, or as a second pass?

I use OBS with multi-cameras, multi-screens and a macro pad to switch between them, and a HUION tablet. But for remote electrical engineering design work. I use xfce/xubuntu with X11.

I don't see any value in moving to Wayland for my setup. Once I see the killer feature, maybe (doubtful). Or once it becomes painful to stay in X11.

@poleguy I do both: a bit while drawing (esp. when I show how to activate something in the GUI) ; or to explain the next step. Then, I go silent or listen to my music for the next 4h, knowing I'll timelapse this part) or I took note on a markdown document to write post-audio recording voice over of what to explain during a timelapse.

I'll publish an article this week about my setup, and a list of "Notable Improvements". But if your setup works, I hope you'll be able to keep it for a long time.

@davidrevoy This is amazing. Can’t wait to see it and know your experience with Wayland. I tired Fedora 44 this week and although it went well I couldn’t do color calibration on my displays (probably my fault)

Also with Nvidia cards there is some lag when painting. Not sure if it’s due to Lrita being on XWayland or what.

@Juankprada I see, could be the Nvidia card/drivers. I blocklisted Nvidia almost a decade ago, so my article will have a clear blind angle on that part. I tested the setup only on two machine: my full AMD workstation and on laptop with a Intel GPU.
I'll publish it tomorrow, probably many things I reported on it (for KDE Neon User Edition) should work on other distro, as I also have this time more Flatpak around, and tips related to KDE Plasma latest (but over a 24.04LTS 'old' base).
@davidrevoy I should have done the same and stick to intel/amd. I think when I bought that laptop I still had nightmares of AMD issues back in the early days 😅😭
@Juankprada True! AMD for a long time was the real nightmare (got almost PTSD from keywords like Gallium, RadeonSI, Glamor or AMDGPU-PRO) 😅

@davidrevoy Amazing! File sizes of the are (mostly) much smaller than I thought they would be, what size / FPS do you use for recording?

I should probably start doing that again as well, time lapses are so much fun!
