Focus fire, people. Most harmful, least accountable tech companies:

  • NSO Group
  • Clearview AI
  • Meta
  • Amazon
  • Alphabet / Google
  • X (the nazi bar)
  • Palantir
  • VK
  • Bytedance / TikTok
  • Apple
  • Microsoft
  • Once we've killed off Meta, or anything above it, feel free to proceed with the rest of the list. But focus your fire, and be effective.

    @codinghorror i think Palantir should be higher 🤣

    @codinghorror interesting that this is three out of the four letters in FANG.

    Can someone please make a new acronym for the companies that allow workers to create cool tech and aren’t run by giant pieces of shit?

    @codinghorror NSO is Nintendo Switch Online I assume?

    @codinghorror

    I had never even heard of NSO Group (have I been living under a rock?). Just searched them... WTF?!?

    How do we rally against that?

    @codinghorror clearview sadly feels like such a hydra I'm not even sure there. They were first, and have the biggest database, but I would focus my fire on the technology and push for regulation of it and countermeasures to it (though idk if you even disagree with me there or just put clearview for sake of congruity)
    @codinghorror but why is palantir so much lower than nso?
    @codinghorror You can target multiple of them at once, without needing to focus. For example, using Mastodon simultaneously targets Merta, Xi-tter, and TikTok.

    @codinghorror

    If I might make a couple of suggestions.. Palantir and Clearview should be grouped together as Theil is the major shareholder for both and the "separation" between them is mostly a fiction designed to insulate Palantir from lawsuits

    Oracle should on the list/ near the top.. because they are actually the largest processor, holder, purchaser, and seller of "surveillance capitalism" data.

    Oracle has more data on you than all of the major consumer credit firms combined... and there are effectively no laws that hold them accountable
