Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s coalition advanced a preliminary bill on 20 May to dissolve the Knesset, paving the way for possible early elections amid a dispute with ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) parties over military service exemptions, according to The Jerusalem Post.
The bill passed 110–0 but still requires further readings. If approved, elections could be moved forward from 27 October to as early as September or mid-October.
The crisis centers on Haredi draft exemptions as military manpower pressures grow, with the Degel Hatorah faction supporting dissolution of the parliament.
