It is almost a certainty that the county's insurer paid the settlement, which means the county's premiums will go up, if they're not cancelled outright, and everyone in the county loses as their taxes pay for these shenanigans.

@RealGene @MyOpinion @arstechnica the sheriff that put him in jail was elected to the position. I don't feel sorry for the tax payers; they gave him the authority.
