Mystery Bird.

So... yesterday, I was looking out the window and saw a tiny bird bouncing around in the lower branches of the pine tree. I had no idea what it was, but I was able to take a couple of OK photos.

Could it be a female Ruby-crowned Kinglet?

@donray A Kinglet for this time of year doesn't seem right for your location. The wing bars don't seem right for it either. Black and White looks swapped in position🤷‍♂️

Guessing... maybe a Bell's Vireo?

@lfisk

That's what I thought, that a kinglet should have passed through weeks ago.

The vireo looks about right, but seems a little large. If it is a vireo, it might be nesting around here, and I'll get another look. Hopefully.

@donray Maybe give you some idea of what to look for. They claim it likes to flick its tail around. I've had luck in the past recording songs heard for ID help too🤞

@lfisk

I hope I see it again. It was hyperactive the way the books describe the kinglet. But I didn't focus in on the tail at the time.

I'll have to check out the song.
