I was scoring at #cricket tonight. My first time. 😬

I was using the Play Cricket scoring app, which means people at home could follow along ball-by-ball.

Thankfully, I had two experienced scorers alongside me. One using a traditional scoring book and annotating the pairs cricket differences; the other using a pairs cricket scoresheet - so it was reassuring when we all had the same score at the end of each over. 😀

It's now over a year since I joined this Cricket and Rugby club. They're a great bunch and it's wonderful that they're so welcoming of a middle aged woman who is not particularly good at sport but is happy to get stuck in. 🙂

Oh. PS. We won, which is nice but doesn't seem to be the most important thing to any of them.

@aroundthehills Did you catch the error by the scorers in the Kent v Durham match at the weekend? One of the Kent batters was on the scoreboard as 181 not out overnight. He was dismissed within a few balls of the following morning with a final score of 180.
@Simon_M No, I didn't see that. What was the reason for the anomaly?
@aroundthehills I haven't seen an official account, but the radio commentary reckoned it was because the two batters looked similar and had the same stickers on their bats, that a run was attributed to one batter when it should have gone to the other.

@Simon_M 🤦

Last night, the opposition's final pair were sisters and looked very similar. I had to keep telling myself "M - Pink flashes on shoulder. L - White flashes on trousers".

Even then, I got the strike wrong in the final over and had to correct it.
