Don’t call it age verification. Call it centralised personal data collection. And understand that it serves surveillance, not safety for children.

They already know everything about you.
"They" means the NSA and GCHQ.

Did you know about this? Right after the new Fed chair, who is in the Epstein files, was confirmed. It didn't matter. In fact, it was a requirement. ☠️

@lin11c

Erebor = robere = robbery

They're not even trying to hide it. *smh*

@lin11c @Tutanota

The fossil fuel industry wants to de-dollarize the trade in sanctioned oil.

Cryptocurrency is a fraud that risks global financial destabilization. It's unregulated banking.

Trump's fascist billionaires use it to evade taxation, hide assets, & fund anti-democracy movements.

@Tutanota I would argue that it’s both. When you’re at home, do you let your kid surf the web on the PC unabated? If you do, then I can understand why this would be difficult to grasp. Most parents would monitor what their children have access to on the home PC so there is no reason why it shouldn’t be done on their mobile devices as well. Parents have had twenty years to do this and they failed, now the government will step in and do it for you.
@dademurphy @Tutanota I was given free reign on the web as a child in the 90s. Forgivable, people really didn't understand the internet at the time. However, that time is passed.
Parents should know better. They have parental tools. Use them.
@Tutanota tbf the EU’s approach (if it works like they say) may actually be beneficial, but the UK stuff is just straight bullshit
@Tutanota it serves the people who are supposed to be holding big tech social media companies to account by allowing said people to say "well, they breached the age verification protections in place so it's not the social business' fault they were encouraged to insert horrific thing here"
@Tutanota Just call it the #digitalid surveillance state or the technocracy. That's what it's part of.
@Tutanota

I believe the correct term is "surveillance age discrimination and censorship."

RE: https://transfem.social/notes/alifz5ktagpm0cyh
@Tutanota I was literally thinking about how the age verification is just another marketing data point last night and crafting a note for my website, and now I can just point to your toot. You saved me the effort!

@Tutanota I was a child, with a computer, and someintelligence. The one thing "Age Verification" won't do is protect children.

In fact, there is a strong chance it will endanger children. People will figure out how to manipulate it. Then, that predator "must be a child, since the system verified they are" and will be approved to access online spaces for kids.

That's before we even consider data breaches.
