One of the grandkids came by this morning so I could run down to the Humboldt Botanical Garden. My son has a dogwood tree with a placque dedicated to his memory on the main trail. I try to get there, at least once a year, while it's blooming.
Sometimes it works out.
Like today.
His tree is gorgeous.
Much of the garden is in bloom.
The staff and volunteers do a fantastic job and are almost too friendly. It felt rude to rush away as the gate keeper was a talker.
I took bunches of pictures to share with my husband. The trail would be more than he can manage but he likes to see what I see.

I'm so glad you got to go on a very pretty day to see your son's memorial dogwood. It's a lovely tree!

All the other photos you took are beautiful too! Thank you for sharing them.

@NorcalGma2
Those poppies are so gorgeous. I never saw poppies like that.
Even more garden photos further along my walk to the top of the hill and back. Dodging mosquitoes all the way.
The end of my walk right before the gate keeper talked my leg off.
@NorcalGma2 that is a wonderful spot. It is lovely to have a flowering tree in memory of your son
@NorcalGma2 what a beautiful tree to honour his memory
@sus
I think so too. It has really grown in ten years.
@NorcalGma2 It’s the prettiest dogwood I’ve ever seen, Gma. ❤️
@NorcalGma2 we’ve been to the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens in Fort Bragg, but not up to the one in Humboldt yet. That tree is a lovely tribute to your son.
@NorcalGma2 Your son's tree looks glorious. I'm so glad you got to see it in bloom.
@NorcalGma2 Blessings come in many different forms. Perhaps the gatekeeper needed the conversation with you today and you were a blessing to him. I'm not particularly religious, but I do believe things happen as they are intended to do so...
@NorcalGma2 may his memory, like a tree, be a blessing for all
