Found this old gem from when I was still learning to make music from found sounds, by turning them into instrument-like sounds.

This is something I would really like to get into again, but it was also extremely time consuming to chop and edit the recordings, before you could even start making music.

I do love the magic of doing this though. You never know when a falling rock, makes just the funky rhythm you need to get startet or how you’ll be able to make tones.

Here is an example of creating a melodic sound from a stick/branch sound.

In this particular case you can hear the stick sound in the beginning making just a slight ringing sound. This sound is being stretched x amount of times with Paul Stretch and after that I’m isolating the different harmonics with Pro Q3 to get individual notes, which then becomes some kind of scale to start with.

@mosgaard I'm not 100% sure what's available in terms of sampler functionality in your Akai Force, but this is WAY easier to do with an MPC sampler than in the DAW, in my opinion. And somehow more fun for me!

@alisynthesis some of it is easier, but I sometimes use techniques which are heavily depended on plugins and time stretch algorithms, where a stand alone sampler can’t keep up with a DAW.

Like using Pro Q3s brick wall filter to isolate harmonics, chaining together 4 transient shapers, using PaulXStrech and more.

But it’s fun on a sampler also. Did this on the Akai Force from items found in a forrest by some kids: https://youtu.be/7qeLlp2HeRM?feature=shared
