Hello, Fedi. Weekly Mutual Aid post to try and keep my partner @LukeOrion and I inside for another week. We need to raise $431 by Tuesday morning (May 19) to do that. Really frustrated about the rate going up by $40 this week. We are a disabled trans couple that’s been dealing with homelessness for over a year now. We’re trying to keep staying sheltered at an extended stay hotel while we try to raise enough for a used car to get us back on our feet.

As of writing this @LukeOrion and I have about 23 hours left to try and raise this weeks goal for shelter. We only have raised $10 so far. Really hoping we have better luck with help today.

May 19 update:
@LukeOrion and I only managed to raise $12 of what we needed by the deadline this morning. Considering that isn't even enough to cover a single night, I had to use my rewards points from the hotel to cover the next two nights (the most i could get right now). This gives us two additional days to raise our goal. Really hoping we have some better luck in these next two days, not sure what we would do if we can't.

I'm panicking right now. Went to check the hotel site, and now the room is $451 instead for the week. I don't know what the hell we're supposed to do. We have less than two hours left. I'm freaking out.

@magicalgrrrl it's so not cool that the price keeps jumping. do you think it could possibly be an online surge/surveillance pricing thing? i saw a toot about that happening with flights, where the price shown on the website went up just after a day because of multiple views by the same person. the tip shared on how to get the earlier seen price on a flight was to delete cache/cookies or book it with an incognito window - might be worth the try to look up next week's rate that way?
