Artschool entry exams are tough today. We asked applicants at the visual communication department: „Tell us the name of an artist you like“. Many answered, „I saw something on the internet, but I don‘t know the name“ or „sorry, I don‘t know any artists.“ Few mentioned one of these three: Van Gogh, Manet and Monet. Only 8 of 60 named interesting newer artists. Stunning!

@Ullilust Maybe it's a safe bet? I mean art school professors are known to have a clear oppinion regarding what is good and what is bad art (those present, of course, excepted). So, maybe no answer is better than a "wrong" one, or refering to the classics is safer?
@agitatra that would be nice, - but I observe the decline of knowledge since 10 years. Most do bot look left or right, the just consume what is shown to them.
