It must be nearly summer, our friendly beighborhood turtle is making his yearly visit, looking for a place to lay eggs. I kept the dog inside and out of her way, before she ventured back towards the swamp. #backyard
@MikeyU Aww. This is nice to see. I'm glad she comes back each year. Fun to watch, too, huh?
@forestfern Yes! Last year, we got to watch her dig a hole for her eggs, though we didn't actually see any eggs nor see any young later on. We also occasionally get young turkeys with their mom and fawns. My wife isn't too happy when young garden snakes appear in the basement window wells, ha ha.

@MikeyU

Major Yikes! (just like your wife). Then again, it's a good sign that you have snakes to remove rodents.

One year I enjoyed watching a snapping turtle dig & lay her eggs. It was in a rather public spot so I worried about the little ones. This year, I finally spotted her again, on the shore in a more wooded area. I'm a little happy that people won't find her & her eggs but I won't be able to see the progress. Oh well.
