@ariadne We should return to private train cars for the rich fuckers, IMO. Amtrak still allows you to hook them onto their long-distance trains for a fee, and those are a hell of a lot more efficient than a jet.

(Purely for practical and selfish reasons: it would give them one hell of an incentive to maintain the fucking railway infrastructure for expediency and passenger comfort. It's downright criminal that freight continues to get away with illegally delaying Amtrak in completely preventable ways, and that the long distance routes regularly have an average speed of ~20-40mph vs the interstate that literally runs parallel to the route most of the time)

@ariadne A long time ago, you could just buy a plane ticket and it didn't need to be in a person's name. There wasn't all this seat shrinking, security screening harassment, and price gouging by the airlines.

I hope we can legislate the airlines to provide service so excellent that rich people would *want* to take non-private jets. Until we do that, the super rich will always choose the more convenient option, which is worse for most of us.
