Cthulhu on a plate

Had a pretty sophisticated horror dream last night like The Wicker Man.

Dreamed I was in Kastrup, Denmark. Only instead of the Copenhagen Airport, it is an isolated Swedish-Danish town, apparently the Kalmar Union lasted to present times.

I was having navigational difficulties in my rental car and stopped and parked in a high school parking lot and went into a nearby restaurant.

The restaurant turned out to be a restaurant-museum from the Vasa era.

I ordered an omelette and they brought me a spinach omelette. I got up and started looking at the half-finished or inexplicable displays. Elements of ELP's Karn Evil 9 and Firesign Theater appear as exhibits. I lose my watch, my cane, my phone charger, and my phone is behaving strangely. The place is much larger inside than out, resembling various Vasa castles, notably Kalmar Slott, near where I used to live. I find my way outside, go back in to pay the bill.

My omelette was gone. The server, dressed in 16th century costume, gives me someone else's plate they just cleared. It had foot long many tentacled Kraken on it with hundreds of tiny glittering black eyes on its skin inside and out. There were pieces of lobster inside the body cavity. It was alive and the eyes were watching.

I could not find my way out of the building. People talking, in subtitled Dansk, about "The Book." And Greenland.

Found the car and drove.

Woke up hyperventilating. Had to confirm that I had phone, cane, keys, wallet and passport before I could calm down.

It was an amalgamation of many dicey situations I have had traveling which I handled calmly and successfully in real life.

I guess the suppressed anxiety built up into this really detailed and messed up dream though, like The Green Man or The Wicker Man.

Sometimes my brain is extremely funny in dreams. This was horrorshow.

My hat is off to you, brain.
