There's a few reasons why I build Lokjo.

- I kept hearing shops in my area (Berlin) were bought up by corporates, given the choice to pay double/tripple rent or get out.

- People do support local shops but they're hard to find with corporate googlemaps.

- Most local shops have their own products for a NORMAL price, good quality, no slave-labour or dirty 'investments' behind it, just people doing what they love.

Give it a try if you like.

@lokjo @steltenpower but ... It looks like the same shops as on open street maps.

@vosje62 @steltenpower

..it IS the same shops. We use data from OSM.

The difference is that OSM.org is a map made for contributors, to add data. Lokjo, on the other hand, is for people who would like to use that data in a daily routine, like googlemaps, but EU and non-profit.

Osm doesn't have a function to search all shops in a certain area, with popups showing info, it doesn't have a corporate/chains filter, it doesn't have a user interface made for daily use.

That's why Lokjo was made.

@lokjo the idea is great. Unfortunately, the OSM data seems to be used without any consideration for language or translation. So I look in my next bigger city for "Werkzeug" and "Eisenwaren". I get a few suggestions all over Germany. This one https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/2881446090 is not found. what can be done to improve this?

Thanks for your feedback. :)

When looking for german names the best is to switch to german language (in the menu or in the Quick menu, blue round button left top)

Then you just search for 'Werkzeug' and you select the blue 'Baumarkt' on top of the list, this will show you all baumarkts in the area.

Here's an example

P.s. I've just added 'Eisenwaren' to the list, so you can use that word too to get to Baumarkten.
