Dunno if I will make these, but the price was right (50% off). Pajama pants maybe? Oversized shirt? Lol #sewing
The shirt on the right is channeling David Byrne.
Hmm, not quite 1980's James Bond on the left, lol.
Apparently the guy in the shirt pattern has the SAME HAIRDO AND AWFUL PATTERN CHOICES as Jim Carrey's "Pet Detective" movie. (I can't handle watching the dumb humor portrayed by his movies, btw... gah, feel like IQ points dissolving, almost as bad as watching The Kardashians).
@ai6yr “Awful”?!? I almost unfollowed you 🤣
@uxMark @ai6yr I quote Ace Ventura probably weekly, and I haven't watched it in 20+ years.
@NosirrahSec @uxMark @ai6yr
I liked it back in the day. Then I realized the plot is pretty much just "transphobia and a dolphin" 😔
@me_valentijn @uxMark @ai6yr A lot of that time period was scarily just that, now that I reflect back on it; a lot of life was just one string of bigotry tied to the next.
@me_valentijn @NosirrahSec @ai6yr I never saw the movie. I just liked the shirts in the pictures 🤣
@ai6yr
You could wear this with your high-waisted, pleated front, parachute leg jeans.
@ai6yr Let face it, Herve "De Plane" saved that movie... BEST BOND HENCHMAN after Jaws
@ai6yr In that pose Moore looks like he's never even seen karate.
@intrepidhero That era of movie was kind of silly, lol.

@intrepidhero @ai6yr

Oh ... was that supposed to be a karate pose?

@ReneDamkot I've got a girlfriend that's better than that @ai6yr

@knowattitude @ReneDamkot LOL I would have expected he was riding a bicycle or a unicycle, lol
@ReneDamkot @ai6yr I was at that concert tour... lol!
@ai6yr the one looks like scrubs
before scrubs got fancy
@ai6yr
I wish I kept all of my Vogue patterns from back in the day. They were my favorites.
@NorcalGma2 I still have no idea which ones work better or worse, though there was that one that skipped all the steps everyone except me knew how to do, lol... that was painful.
@ai6yr
When I sewed all of our clothes I used Vogue for things like suits and coats. Anything lined.
The patterns were very precise but even in the 1970's they were expensive.
I worked out a deal with a store to fabricate all of their garments for display. Mostly hanging from the ceiling of their store.
I got to keep the clothes after they hung for two months and they gave me store credit as well as six free patterns a month of my choosing.
Almost everything they asked me to make involved a detailed Vogue pattern.
It was a great deal for me at the time.
@NorcalGma2 Wow! That's quite a great deal, but I bet they were quite happy on having you available to show their display garments!
@NorcalGma2 @ai6yr Vogue patterns are no joke. Loved the outcome, but they took work for sure!
@ai6yr I used a different but similar pattern for scrubs, and they make excellent PJs. Because #pockets
#sewing
@EllenInEdmonton what kind of material? Cotton? (I haven't read the pattern yet, but I think all the scrubs I have seen are cotton...)
@ai6yr
Yup, I used purple and turquoise broadcloth and used Okinawa cotton for the pockets and yoke. Other fabrics are likely to be uncomfortable, at least for women of a certain age.
@EllenInEdmonton LOL it's like to be uncomfortable for EVERYONE of every age. My most comfortable pajama pants at the moment are ones I made out of old sheets I snagged at a garage sale, lol. I will have to do another one of those, except a better job next time, ha ha.
@ai6yr @EllenInEdmonton Thank you both for giving me the idea (which seems extremely obvious now) of what I should be doing with my saved old, perfectly softened sheets that have worn/tears that make them not so viable as sheets, but scrub style PJs - yes!
@elkwisdom @EllenInEdmonton Oh, hey, I should turn the dyed sheets I have into PJ's using that pattern, they will be FABULOUS! (a wee bit purple, though... 🤪 )
@ai6yr @elkwisdom
"Though" does not belong in that sentence! They'll be fabulous BECAUSE they'll be purple!!
@ai6yr I’m kinda jealous you can find those patterns. No such luck where I am, and I am looking for pyjama bottoms. I wonder if I can copy an old pair without actually taking them apart.
@etp Yes, you can definitely copy a pair. The patterns just make it a little easier to get to the final product without detours.
