Exploitation is never an isolated issue. This week, the FCJ Refugee Centre's Anti-Human Trafficking team was proud to collaborate with The Mary Ward Centre for an immersive event on labour exploitation, migrant vulnerability, and trafficking prevention in Canada.

As part of Victims and Survivors of Crime Week, we reflected on how the Closed Work Permit system continues to place refugees and migrant workers at greater risk, especially when prevention is absent.

During the event, we officially launched 'Permission to Exploit,' our new podcast series, helping bring greater visibility to labour exploitation in Canada.

The Mary Ward Centre also shared their South-North Migration Project focused on prevention from countries of origin and reducing vulnerability before migration begins and the World Risks campaign to prevent human trafficking at mass events such as the 2026 World Cup.
