CatrionaPrinter woes: my ancient HP printer has finally given up the ghost (no more drivers available for this dinosaur) and I need to get a replacement. Nothing too expensive, as I only use it about once a week for personal stuff. Anyone have any recommendations? #printer #adviceNeeded

@cmniciosaig Brother DCP-L2510D is the printer we have. Solid, no subscriptions, buy toner and it runs just fine.
I can't find one for sale, except on ebay.
Amazon indicates that the 2620DW is the new version of it.

@cmniciosaig the toner cartidges last for ages and are cheap, especially the off-brand ones
Martin Howitt@cmniciosaig I’ve got an Hp Envy 5000 that I mainly use for printing out colouring pages for the step-grandchildren. Works ok and if you get the HP printing plan they’ll supply free ink for up to 15 pages a month

Wen@cmniciosaig What is the machine that has died? We still have a very ancient HP Laser printer that works 20+ years after birth.
@Wen I can't remember exactly the type, will need to check when I'm home. It's definitely not 20 years old though! I just cannot get it to connect to our new wifi or even my phone hotspot etc. I am technically inept, I know, but I am sooo over it now and have declared it dead to me 😂

@cmniciosaig The older printers work@well (when you can connect them) and it might be an awful@lot of metal, plastic and toner to throw away
