Construction of Steeles Station requires excavation of a large underground station box underneath Yonge Street.

To maintain north-south connectivity, Yonge Street will be temporarily realigned onto a newly constructed diversion road west of its existing alignment.

@jerome In montréal, the STM is having to dig up streets over stations to reach the roof to put new waterproofing membrane. They are now attacking berri-UQAM station which is very extensive and many streets closed for many months at a time.

@jerome When they built the Berri de Montigny métro station in Montréal in early 1960s, they maintained sidewalk access to the bus terminal.

Where the is a will there is a way. They should at least create suspended sidewalk to maintain access to stores along the dug up area of Younge.
