Hey #London folks! We're making a family trip to your city this summer, and I'm wondering: are any of the bikeshare services available for (older) children, or a person without a smartphone?

My 11yo kid can probably ride an adult bike with the seat fully down, but he doesn't have a smartphone (nor do we want him to have one). Do any accept a tap-and-pay debit card?

And we're Americans who live in the Netherlands. We understand how to navigate bikeways with rules AND surviving on a bike in car-centric spaces.
@smeg If you're going to be together the whole time it's not problem. You can rent multiple Boris bikes at a time.
@shermozle that's good to know! With most places, it's 1 bike per 1 phone, which is less than ideal
@smeg You can do multiple bikes per booking on the Lime bikes too
@smeg (note my info from October last year when our family visited from Sydney)
@shermozle @smeg nope the child must be 18 years old
@mamapanda @smeg Not true. You must be 18 to rent the bike but >14 to hire one. Simple. (and nobody's checking so use your parental judgement)

@smeg The TfL (Transport for London) cycle hire scheme lets you pay by card at the docking stations. Be aware that they don't cover the outskirts of London and you can't just abandon them, so you will need to factor in the need to return them to a docking station if you take a ride to less touristy areas.

@smeg I personally despise the Lime bikes you can hire and just leave wherever. Mainly because so many people just dump them in the middle of the pavement, causing access problems for pedestrians and wheelchair users.

@smeg you can rent LIME BICYCLE, BICYCLE RACKS ARE FULL OF THEM LONDON
HE IS NOT ALLOWED TO RIDE THE E-BICYCLE HE IS UNDER 18 YEARS OLD
