Relieved to see Dr Joseph Allen and his no-BS approach to the precautionary principle on @[email protected] last night. If I hear the words "nothing to worry about" and "mild" from supposed public health officials one more time....🙄 #ItsAirborne #CovidIsNotOver youtu.be/rO4Xd5PfIo0

“Public deserves to know”: Harvard Professor says official messaging contradicts hantavirus science

@quarantegan.bsky.social One of the COVID subs on reddit took it down for low-quality content, which was weird. I thought he spoke very rationally.

@quarantegan.bsky.social To all the miniimizers out there: I'm angry becasue I'm hearing stupid people utter things like, "there's too much publicity on this,".

This isn't a reminder of covid, it's a reminder that we still don't care enough to stop another pandemic. If we did, we would see health screening in airports.

Folks, if you see a post where somebody is minimizing the outbreak, please block them and warn your followers.

Read the journals and you will get all the facts that happened, not just the ones they want you to hear about.

@quarantegan.bsky.social Argentina has been hiding the rise in cases but they didn't warn travellers becasue they depend on tourism. This is the world we live in. 😞
@quarantegan.bsky.social @Scienceisnotopinions I’ve already heard, “ #HantaVirus is not airborne” only to read that assertion contradicted moments later. Covid taught me that “public health” is not about my health or anyone’s health as an individual. It is about statistical models of populations and hospital beds. That, and keeping people calm and at work(!) because the economy etc. My default setting now is to be VERY skeptical of anything a health official says. I think with the current anti-science kooks (and crooks) running the broken CDC we should assume they are either lying, poorly informed, on-the-take, stupid or a mix thereof. We have to protect and respect the health care givers and scientists who maintain their integrity. They will tell us truthfully what we need to know. They are under tons of pressure to conform to the government/corporate line.

@meltedcheese @quarantegan.bsky.social Yes, I feel the same way and I tell others that too.

The Hanta virus has been around for a long time so there's absolutely no excuse for the public to get misinformation from public health. I bet there are already bots out there at work to challenge the science.

@quarantegan.bsky.social @Scienceisnotopinions ** The video is a must watch. **
TL;DR — #HantaVirus spreads fast. It is easy to catch in just a few moments exposure. Be alert to what happens next.

One of the reporters got it exactly right. “What you just told us, doctor, is frankly terrifying.” The doctor, an expert, also explicitly said “the messaging” heard in the report from CDC et. al., is just plain wrong. He said people need the facts so they can protect their health appropriately. He was not alarmist, just straight.

I’m reminded of the December before the #COVID quarantine, when a few individuals in China had been hospitalized, and soon died, from an unknown virus. In two months it spread around the world. That’s where we are, now, again. As a society we can and must do a better job this time. #MaskUp friends.
