Study: SARS-CoV-2 RNA found in 39% of hospital air samples during outbreaks, despite good ventilation

Been thinking about the extent to which many White folk in Western Civilization feel much more in control of their lives than their matching cohort from one, two and three centuries ago.

Deaths in childbirth, deaths of children, deaths from infection, malnutrition, social oppression and social restrictions have all vastly improved.

And medical science has for 100 years very strongly held to "It's not airborne".

'Struth, how to really make a negative impression.

Visited a relative in a WA Health Department hospital.

COVID-19 infections in the ward according to staff.

Sign at entrance reads only, "Masking recommended".
Next to sign is a box of surgical masks and hand disinfectant.

2025 and this is what public health is delivering?

And I'm meant to have confidence in the care decisions this system makes?

The second report of the UK COVID Inquiry is out. The two volumes are here: covid19.public-inquiry.uk/documents/mo... The section on "The focus on handwashing over ventilation" begins in section 12.32 of the second volume (page 167 in the PDF of voume 2). #itsairborne #COVID #longCOVID #aerosol

How can I show support for mainstream medicine when it is using surgical masks instead of N95 masks to address the risk of respiratory infections?

This is not a rhetorical question.

How do you do it?

I've tried telling Covid-deniers that mainstream medicine is wrong about this, and that N95 masks are needed.
They already "know" the first bit. It supports their view.
They're sure the second bit is nonsense.

@DenisCOVIDinfoguy

The image in the BBC article shows blue surgical splash-and-droplet masks.

Is COVID-19 not airborne in Shrewsbury and Telford?

Or is that the hospital boards feel they're exempted from the physics of air filtration?

Is there not a healthcare workers federation or something.

A quick check shows a disturbing variance in the stated infection methods.

Is the old science "terror of the #Miasma superstition" is still in play? Even after #Covid #ItsAirborne? Except for #Wikipedia it's at most "droplets", not aerosols, not airborne.

WHO: "bite of infected vector fleas",
"contact with infectious bodily fluids or contaminated materials", " inhalation of respiratory droplets/small particles from a patient".

And let's ignore #ItsAirborne and the (AIUI) ongoing absence of Indoor Air Quality regulations being in place even for newly built facilities let alone enforced on existing facilities.

"Oh gosh darn, we've put a lot of old people in an pro-infection environment &, who'da thunk it, they've gone and got sick! Completely unforeseeable." - Public health and aged care company officials

I say, "This is abuse and neglect of aged care residents. You dogs."

"Consistency matters tremendously. Research shows that when health experts give conflicting information or change their message, people become more suspicious and decide to hold off on vaccines. ..."

Which raises the damage done to the public's confidence in health science when "It's not airborne" and "Masks don't work" was the dogma held to despite decades of physics and engineering around air filtration and decades of experimental results showing #ItsAirborne.

@RebelGeek99
Went with miasmaologist.

But though miasmaologists are sure it's airborne and that masking is a good thing, the poll asks for "popular".

With the low level of regulations introduced for #IAQ, the near total lack of masking in healthcare, transport and indoor venues ,and the (large?) authorative pockets of "not-airborne" experts, I'm not sure they'll be popular.
