I'm going to go out on a limb and say white colored hiking boots are probably a bad idea. #hiking

Hmm, not white... "Safari/Birch" 🤔

Depends on how far into "dingy white" it already is, otherwise, it will get dingy white very quickly.

I suppose they might be "hiking lifestyle" shoes, it's at REI, *implying* you are into hiking but not designed for use on the trail. Much like SUVs and Jeeps have become a "lifestyle brand" even if they'll never go on a 4x4 trail, too.

Not sure about this year, but here, someone wearing clonky hiking boots for fashion, wearing a white fashion jumpsuit which probably cost a fortune lol

Oh here, what I need, is a faux fur jacket to run around while hiking here, better to encourage the mountain lions. Just need to douse myself with some "Obsession for Men" (aka Mountain Lion bait) and jog around at 4am

I guess your royalty aren't exactly going down single line rappelling.

@ai6yr
Eh, it was probably another AI one 😂
@ai6yr Nice apparent redundancy with the belay rope addition. Unfortunately, there is a single point of failure with that bar tacked loop all those carabiners are clipped to. #IHateRappelling
@CavedaleRhones I would have anchored the safety line directly to the harness.
@ai6yr Bing! You win the refrigerator :-)
@ai6yr @CavedaleRhones possibly the person who rigged that isn’t a monarchist.
@ai6yr This actor/model was apparently considered expendable 🤣
@CavedaleRhones @ai6yr I scrolled back up, expecting it was Prince Harry, not William... But maybe it was Harry that hooked him up?
@ai6yr An old family friend Austin Matteson, who was a WWII pilot, once told me that there are old pilots, and bold pilots. But there are no old, bold pilots. I think that applies to climbers too.
@CavedaleRhones @ai6yr Reminds me of „expensive climbing gear lasts 5 years, cheap climbing gear lasts a lifetime“
@ai6yr
We learned to rappel with just a body wrap and no hardware, early ‘60s. 3-strand Goldline that stretched and made bouncing descents. Still have a bag of pitons. Bongs had nothing to do with drugs it was the sound.
@ai6yr
Rescue/fire services tend to use two lines on all high angle rope activities. I guess they like to add complexity to already high-stress scenarios. Arborists would use one line for access and a lanyard to keep in position for doing whatever needs doing.
It is nice seeing the Prince of Wales playing on the mountains of Wales where my favorite carabiner are made.
