Great question! Someplace totally disconnected with great scenery/beautiful landscapes, and lots of horseback riding. Where I could ride out all day, and stop whenever inspired to write, or nap, or nibble. And come back to a hearty meal and a warm bed.

If I could spend a week writing with just a notebook and pen, I'd look for a city with good walking and bike infrastructure and lots of cafes and libraries to stop at and spend time in and overhear conversation.

There are a couple of European cities that come to mind (maybe Paris, though my French is not useful; Berlin comes to mind too.)
