I appreciate this, but I don't think a lack of policy ideas is really the problem. We know how to push back against car-centric development. It's just that most Americans have been marinating in pro-car propaganda their entire lives & cars have made them selfish & sociopathic.

My local subway system has had a fare card changeover scheduled for this spring for at least a year. The result? Old farecards and gates stopped working in late March, no fares were collected at all through all of April, and as of the first week of May the new system was still not working and all fare gates were open. Subway fares pay about 20% of the operating budget.

I loves my subway but fear for its future.
