It never ceases to amaze me how vast majority of people think nowadays building community is all about completing transactions vs. building long-term relationships.

That's how messed up the incentives behind #cmgr are at the moment, as a result of our tech fetish with traditional #SocialMedia 😔

#CommunityBuilders

@elsua54 Hi, can I ask a bit more about what you mean as I'm sure you don't mean the opposite (or maybe you do!).

Either way let me know more about the meaning if not "building community is all about completing transactions vs. building long-term relationships. " and also the "fetish" you mention.

I wrote this recently so this gives you a bit more where I'm coming from... Thanks

@collective_truth Thanks for the feedback! What I meant with my previous toot was about something that has irked me for decades. The fact people think they are building a community (Or are a member) by only focusing more on the take, take, take rather than the give act of building, nurturing and sustaining their own relationships.

An exercise of focusing on the me, me, me vs. the we, we, we. And when not obliging, they usually act accordingly, i.e. leave to the next one that can provide.

@collective_truth Your question from the toot you quoted is a genuine one. I suspect there isn't much talk about it over here, because it's taken as a given after decades of having other tools (like the ones you mentioned) and people have enough knowledge to make it work for them. I think digital enablement has moved elsewhere into conversations with other emerging technologies.
