🚧🐝 Next phase of a £150m investment into Greater Manchester’s Metrolink begins this month, with major track works to improve safety, reliability and long-term resilience. From 16–29 May, no trams will run between Victoria and Rochdale town centre while track, drainage and ballast are replaced between Monsall and Newton Heath & Moston. About 290 concrete sleepers and 2,000 tonnes of gravel are being used, aiming to improve ride quality and lift current speed restrictions. Replacement buses will operate, and some services will be rerouted, with East Didsbury services starting from Exchange Square. At Derker, steel sheet piling will stabilise ground affected by a 2024 landslip. A further closure from 25–29 May will suspend #trams between St Peter’s Square/Market Street and Piccadilly for equipment upgrades at #Piccadilly Gardens, with alternative travel via walking, interchange or free buses. Passengers are advised to plan ahead using the Bee Network app.
