I got a "your stuff's here" sms so I drove to a pickup point on my lunch break. There was a box with a handful of fantastic minis, sculpted by @renegademinis and I backed the kickstarter.
No idea about the related game, but they sure look fun to paint! There's two teams: Orcs and Norse, plus an unsanitary-looking bonesaw orc, or an Apot-orc-ary.
@renegademinis Hmmm.. before I start on these new kinds of ventures, I guess I need some round warhammery bases for them, right?
I was going to ping @erikcats but I don't have their new acct in my follows, so I'll use #nerdlings to ask for thoughts and recommendations 🤔 Not going for a diorama, just something very different from BT and tanks that I usually splash paints at 🤔
@renegademinis the end of the girl's basketball seasons has been a high priority so it took me many random moments to brush-prime them all.
Now that I got that done, I started on the green skins. Something told me they should have some variety, so I started with Soviet 4BO for the two biggest ones, and Light Green RLM82 on some medium orcsies.
Before I get to the apparel and such, I need to decide and divide these into two teams somehow 🤔 Then more decisions 😄
I'm still making it up as I go, expecting some Eureka! moment or two to take place when I get the "common" stuff done. Slow work has gotten the wood base done, and most of metallics (gunmetal) and I've spotted some missing green skin patches.
Maybe I'll do some blue / red teams somehow. But before that I'll do at least some leather and furs out of the way to begin with 🤔
It's amazing how many things I had missed previously. Yesterday I tried some wet-blended-browns for the wolf pelts. The idea made sense but then I realized I have no idea of how a "typical" wolf is coloured 😝
Then I progressed to doing some leather details like belts and gloves on AK's leather brown as a base. Let's see where that takes me.. beyond avoiding team colours and Orc hair, that is 😅

Lots of leather started, both black and brown. Then I wanted actual colours and started red-bluing them. Does it make any game sense? Haven't the foggiest, but painting them slowly is fun 😋 For funsies the other big troll has a leather coat and their red team counterpart has leather trousers. That must be the bestest and sportiest of ideas of all time.
I can't wait to start washing them, I'll have you know 😝 And I haven't really started the meatball-beasts!😅
Because I went with lightish grey fur on the gang's boots and loincloths, and blue/red as team colours... the red team shall be later known as Santerz lil helpaz or somesuch. The photo shows why 😝
My Valkürenorks are on their way to a whiteish outfit with blue trim and underpants that someone carefully modeled 😄 When the hair is done, and if I don't cock it up, they'll look fun and I'll be content.
I'm spending so much time in random short stints to get these Norse Orcs to the washing step. Still, some moments are fun, like now the Valkürenorks got the first attempt at blonde braids. With blue team hairthings, of course. Small but important steps 😄

@erikcats Thanks 😁 The blank and unknown canvas scared me a bit and I thought that doing the common things would reveal more paths for me. The last time I painted an orc/ork was sometime in the nineties, and that was for the silliness of it.
Hairs and fabrics are going to be the big questions apart from the Valkürenorks that I'l try to paint flaxen-haired also for the sheer silliness of it. Stripes or something on hair to follow the team colours? Who knows! I'm definitely no sport follower 😄
