Noticed that I have 2000 followers here on Pixelfed now 😱 When I started this account back in January 2025 I definitely did not see it would grow so quickly. Anyway my main point is not to get as many followers as possible (actually I have blocked a LOT of fake/suspicious profiles who tried to follow me here), but this is more like kind of a safe space for my most important special interest which is the nature and surroundings here on Åland Islands. 99% of my photos are taken on the main island of Åland, most often in my small home town Mariehamn, 1-2 km from my doorstep. But of course I'm very happy for everyone engaging with my photos and I'm also interested in other photographers' work! What I really like about Pixelfed is that there are no ads or big commercial influencers here, which makes it just so much easier to both reach out with my own photos and find interesting content to follow. A big THANK YOU to everyone following, commenting and liking my photos! And have relaxing Sunday 🙏❤️✨️

Congratulations, you are doing a great job making your place look beautiful. I envy your sunsets/sunrises, but that’s probably more envy of you spending the time to be out at the right time of the day.

This line "but this is more like kind of a safe space for my most important special interest.." strikes home. I tell everyone PixelFed is my safe space social media where it’s positive, cool photos. I visit my PixelFed account way more than other less safe environments like Mastodon or Facebook. (But I may visit Reddit more, which is less safe as the algorithm bubbles up stuff to rile me up.)

@[email protected] Thank you so much! Mariehamn is indeed a great place for sunsets/sunrises as we have water on both sides of the town. But of course it's sometimes hard getting up like 3 am in the summer to catch the light. 😄
