We took Haruki to Sakura picnic on Sunday, an annual Japanese car show run by the Toyota club. It's now open to all Asian makes, which makes for a fun mix. It was pissing down with rain, sadly, so we didn't stay long. Did a lap, snapped some shots then went home to change into something dry.

The Toyota club hosts lots of events and are very welcoming to all Japanese makes. They have some great cars in their club.

The Skyline had been restored around 15 years back, the owner called it an old build. I crumbled to dust.

@hashraydamon Nooo lots of cars can!
@vwdasher those white steelies look so ๐Ÿ”ฅ
@Basmitharts agreed! More people need to rock the steelies.
@vwdasher Great thread
@dan there's still two more days of posts to go!
@vwdasher Oh, I have fond memories of the 323F, my family had one at the time I got my drivers license. I'm not 100% sure of the engine, but one of the smaller ones (1.3 or 1.6) and non-injected. Performance was tame but at it sounded decent when revved, and ultimately it didn't matter that much because it was quite the looker amidst all the box-shaped Ladas, Toyotas etc of the time. ๐Ÿ˜
@Turre they were great little things! I had a colleague with a black one, it was much fun to hoon around in.

@vwdasher Indeed. Indeed.

To this day, I do now know what possessed my parents to buy such a special thing. All their other cars up to that point, and ever afterwards, have been the most boring mainstream things you can find. No matter, it was good times while it lasted ๐Ÿ˜

@Turre Mazda's have always been about fun! I don't think hers had anything more than a 1.6l but it still handled well and was just a fun little thing!

Maybe your parents need a Miata in their lives.

@vwdasher
There was a guy a while back who was doing an epic engine swap of a Toyota V12 from a Century into a Corona. Probably still on YouTube out there somewhere.
@vwdasher I like that celica a lot
