I've decided to take the leap and update my #NetGate#pfSense box to 26.03-RELEASE. Here's hoping it's stable and doesn't do all the random lockups I was seeing that kept me on 24.0x
@nomad I'm hoping my stable for months config does better, which is probably slightly different than the old one I never saved before doing the factory reset and recreating everything. Now I save every time I make a change, including a new static DHCP assignment.
@target@emag I see no reason to move from pfSense. I like it, it works. Since they contribute back to FBSD (unlike some others) they also push fixes faster.
@nomad@emag The reason I had shifted to opnsense was specifically that it was pretty clear pfSense development had been languishing; very few updates, not keeping up with FreeBSD head at all. Granted, I made that call back in 2020ish. If there’s renewed investment in the platform on their side since then, good on’m.
@target@nomad if I see a compelling reason, I'll switch. I was never a part of all the drama, so that's not gonna be a factor for me. So far, it does what I want, and that's good enough.
