A few shallow thoughts on "Gen AI" as a term:

1) All the AI fields have marketing (or if we're kind, aspirational) names rather than descriptive names. This causes all sorts of problems.

2) Gen AI doesn't generate, the humans who feed and/or use it do. If humans stop creating work, there's no more 'gen' part.*

A better name is: "Regurgitative AI"

It captures both that it doesn't produce anything new and that the result is objectionable. The 'AI' bit is still marketing bunk, but it's a step in the right direction.
