I guess “democratizing” through technology” has always been a euphemistic claim because, as seen in the Industrial Revolution, it has always been about who owns the technology.

It took 150 years to build a middle class, worker rights, etc., and it took 2 world wars and a systemic threat from communism.

Neither of those incentives exists now. Thinking new jobs will just be created is purely naive. Especially since through lowering buying powers there wont be new markets.
