One year working freelance 🗓️👩‍💻

Fourteen years of TUPE processes and mergers meant I had a good buffer when taking voluntary redundancy.

It's been a deliberately relaxed year. Not out of a lack of ambition, but from a desire to be more methodical. Less work, but better work (I'm under no illusions that it will always be this way). 1/4

I wasn’t sure what the mix would look like in our current "Skynet" era. I’ve dropped into some pretty varied worlds over the last 12 months:

– 40+ #Hubspot components for a media giant.
#Webflow CMS build for food wholesale.
#Astro build and UI design for facilities management.
– A safety-training design system in #Figma.

My tools change, but the goal is the same: handling the "front-of-the-front-end" with a focus on stewardship rather than just output.

The slower pace freed up mental space for @bledwel; my side-quest into menstruation in movies. A new brand and a proper website.

Because research and empathy will matter more than ever in a world of generated content, right? Right?!

For year two, I want to keep focusing on 'sense-making'. Dream projects would be arts/heritage/third-sector orgs that value thought over noise.

I've got two agencies and another freelancer on my books, but it wouldn't hurt to have a couple more. I've got some availability over summer to fill.
