people who live somewhere =/= the authoritarian state within which they live.
people who follow a religion =/= any state or entity doing evil shit in the name of that religion.
Supporting those entities makes one complicit in their crimes. Standing by in silence while evil shit is ongoing, also makes one complicit.
We're obligated, by ethics and by law, to do whatever we can to stop the harm.
