Fediverse tip: you don’t always have to say the thing. In fact, in many cases it’s better if you do not say the thing.
@Ashedryden This should pop up every time you're responding to a non-mutual on here.

@Ashedryden

Hah! One of the most useful things I learned after discovering the Fedi was basically "see a post, construct a reply, but now go away and chill for a while - maybe roll a fat one or whatever, then come back, and if that reply is not funny to you any more when you get back, then hit the <delete> button. You've then saved a large number of cat-people from having to see whatever that was, and also probably saved yourself some later embarrassment".

@Ashedryden I write, re-edit, then delete 90% of my posts and replies. Mostly because the internal conversations in my head leads to me admitting my contribution (hot take) not adding up to much...
@camless @Ashedryden
have you seen the posts of other people?
@camless @Ashedryden Hey if I type it in the reply box it gets sent. No wasted effort.
@Ashedryden on the other hand, the thing is not going to say itself
@lobsterofrevenge @Ashedryden often the thing will get said even if you don't say it.

@Ashedryden

Some if my best toots are the unsent ones 😁

@Ashedryden

Dump Microslop, install Debian.

The thing has been said.

@Ashedryden maybe you should say the _other_ thing. no, not that one. or that one. yes, that one, the one that you're not blindly repeating because someone else said it.
