Has anybody seen #TheArk? Is it any good? I understand some people behind Stargate were behind The Ark.

@Phangurl not only did I like it, I liked it so much that I set up @thearkchat!

Why? While the initial apocalyptic scenario that leads to the Ark ship setting out is quite dystopian, the show itself is very positive and aspirational.

Also, strong and sympathetic women, POC and LGBTQ+ characters.

With 12 episode seasons, they seem to be able to manage both wild science fiction type episodes and character- focused ones while keeping the overall arc of the narrative moving forward.

It’s fairly low budget, often cheesy, but if you can look past that, it’s got a lot to offer for Trek fans.

I plan to organize a biweekly watch/rewatch party for the first two seasons so others here can join in. We discussed doing that Saturday afternoons Eastern daylight time (UTC-4) starting this spring. Availability is somewhat dicey in international markets, but hopefully will clear up once the release date of season three is scheduled.

I had hoped to run it earlier but work commitments got it the way and recently I took on the ***Monsterverse*** community on Lemmy. Once *Monarch: Legacy of Monsters* finishes its second season run, I’d like to get *The Ark* watch parties going.

@AlsoPaisleyCat @thearkchat GREAT! Count me in! I am really enjoying it. I adore the representation in it. I love the characters. Especially the two youngest characters and the acting captain. It is hard to watch in the US though. I'm binging it with a free 7 day Peacock extra subscription. Not the normal Peacock but an extra special one. Very annoying bc I already have access to the regular Peacock but it isn't on there. It's also available through Philo but that's way too expensive. I may end up purchasing the two seasons, unless you know of where else it can be watched?

@Phangurl I have Peacock Premium through Walmart+ -- I didn't even know there was a higher tier. When I search for "Ark" I get zero results - not even anything saying "Hey, you can watch this if you change your subscription!"

@AlsoPaisleyCat

@jenny753 @AlsoPaisleyCat right?!! Its so weird!! Philo let me watch first two episodes for free but it didn't offer me the rest for subscribing. So weird. After two eps I got really into the show so I looked everywhere for it. I only found it in the platform that shall not be named (amzn) but with a 7 day free trial of "Peacock Premium Plus". Tbh, I only see a season 1 listed so don't know what I'm going to do to watch season 2.

@Phangurl @AlsoPaisleyCat The only thing they advertise Premium Plus having over Premium (which is what I have), are "Downloads & No Ads". Nothing about added series...?

Edit: Why in the world is the Amazon version of Peacock Plus offering additional shows? It's so weird.

@Phangurl @jenny753

This seems to be an artifact of NBCUniversal’s effort to bundle and sell off Syfy and other linear channels separately.

The DVD set is also out of production already.

@AlsoPaisleyCat @jenny753 oh geez... That sucks. The seasons are available for purchase through Fandango.
@Phangurl @jenny753 @AlsoPaisleyCat I mean, I have some ideas how you might find and watch season 2...
@ToweroftheArchmage @jenny753 @AlsoPaisleyCat I was listening to #DroppingNames, the podcast of #BrentSpiner and #JonathanFrakes and Dean Devlin said that there a new #Stargate series coming out. He's only got a limited connection to it as it is a spinoff of another SG series that he didn't have much to do with. Amazon studios is behind the new series. He didn't really say anything more about it.
