endeavorance 🕊️On this United States Tax Day, I want to take a moment to worsen the experience of filing your taxes by reminding you that virtually no other country does this shit and we only do this because there is an entire entrenched industry built around the fact that we have to do this in the first place.
It is standard outside of this country to just have your taxes auto-calculated from the same materials that the tax agency has anyway and send you all the info automatically to review if you even care to
Genuinely absurd that we expect every tax paying resident of this country to calculate taxes.

Us self employed in the UK are required to do our tax returns annually.
Every year I just wish tax would do itself. I'm sure it could be baked into the prices of things.
Still leaves the dismal spectre of watching your harvested coins be spent on all the wrong things which we weren't consulted on.

HuddledMass@endeavorance In France, apparently, the government sends you a single page that lists your earnings, etc. and what you have paid in taxes, and (if you agree) you just sign and return it. Takes five minutes.
