I was in an #AIX26 meeting with an aerospace satellite Wi-Fi antenna manufacturer’s CCO when Amtrak released this. I shifted the convo to train connectivity and luckily he came from the transportation sector. In his opinion, connectivity for trains is way more difficult than aerospace 🤯

Why is sat connectivity more difficult for trains than planes? The vibration on crappy quality rails (see: all of America) can be extreme. Temp swings for trains can be more extreme than aircraft. Tunnel clearance is tight. Trees/buildings block satellite connections. It’s hard but not impossible.
