RIP Millie moo, 2011-2026. She was playing on the grass with her squeaky ball right up to her last hour or so of this life, but her time had come after a decline the last 2 days sadly.

You could be a challenging dog Millie, but you were a loving one who was loved too, and always will be. Miss you ma darlin’.

Ah, sorry for your loss. I swear it never gets easier with beloved pets. đź«‚

@imalcolm Yeah, for us, Mario and Kato, our 2 cats in 2015/16 and Ethel in 2023, who came from Dog’s Trust with Millie, from the same household. It will be more difficult this time for sure, with a dog less house.

The absence of any pet from a house is wrenching and disorienting, but dogs often hit harder somehow...

Til she passed early last year we had a beautiful house bunny (toilet trained to use a litter box, she lounged around on furniture like a vegetarian cat) for almost nine years, so now we just have our golden retriever (who also grieved the loss of the rabbit - they adored each other) and I just can't imagine the place without her...

@imalcolm Your rabbit sounds lovely and it’s so nice those two were pals. Both our pairs of cats and dogs were from the same household, but were never big pals, but that also made it easier, as the survivor never grieved the loss like we did. Dogs are just so much more active in their interest and affection for you which I think is what makes it so much tougher and the walks are the routine your daily life revolves around. I have no doubt that routine helped me massively with my kidney disease.
