Another computer moved from Linux to NetBSD!
@OpenComputeDesign
I've always wondered, why do people pick BSD systems over Linux? I've never used BSD myself nor have I really done much research into it, but I see a lot of people say they prefer the experience over standard Linux.
@aptea Well, it's a lot simpler out of the box, and it gets away from a lot of microsoft, systemd, etc drama. There are other reasons, but those two are really big
@OpenComputeDesign
Gotcha. I might give one of them a try in a VM or one of my spare laptops just to see what it's like. Does it handle games well?
@aptea Like modern games, in like steam? Dunno, haven't tried. Probably not tbh.
@OpenComputeDesign
Ah okay, I figured it might have trouble with that if it's simpler than standard Linux.
@aptea Yeah, Linux is not exactly binary compatible with other forms of unix, as I understand it. There _are_ compatibility layers, but I've never tried it. One of the main reasons I use NetBSD is because I like to use older computers and NetBSD runs like a dream on them
