French bill set to criminalise speech on Israel

Describing certain acts as “resistance” or being "insufficiently condemnatory" could lead to five years in prison.

"Courts could interpret attempts to explain root causes or political context as criminal acts."

France’s former anti-terrorism judge Marc Trevidic: "Do you realise what that means? Becoming a censor of other people's thoughts, trying to guess what a person really meant."

@DrALJONES the hypocrisy is just unreal. The hate for Palestinians & denial of their humanity combined with the protection of Israel regardless of their inhumanity is so upsetting to me.
So much racism in France especially to people from any place it once colonized & controlled.
Completely dehumanized, seen as less than. It’s always choices of ‘these but not them’. I truly don’t understand how people make these hypocritical, and these days, extremist judgements. It’s so glaringly perverse.

@JoBlakely

Yes. As you say, the basis is racism.

Everything else follows logically. The logic is impeccable. It's the basic premise that's lunatic.

Lunatic, but the privilege bestowed by it seems irresistable...

@DrALJONES
Those ‘privileges’ come with expectations of certain thoughts, behaviors, conformity, IOUs, you become a dependent receiving a kind of authority over others, but to get it, you lose authority over self. Wealthy Others determine your range of motion. All for the illusion of power over other others. When the only power anyone really has is over self. I do not relate to the temptation of unfairness. I want the wages I’ve earned (& been denied), not the rewards unearned & offered.
