Why do I always think of going for a walk when heavy rain is imminent?

Maybe it's probably the darkening with the clouds. Maybe a good day for an hour of old-tyme work-from-a-coffeeshop experience.

Ha! Haven't done this in years.

Glad I can still get the full tea paraphernalia at #Bridgehead. You have to ask for each step these days, rather than standard operating procedure, but the pots and milk pitchers are still around.

They're not what they used to be as a little stand-alone, then later independent micro-chain, but at least they aren't owned by SecondCup anymore.

Meanwhile, outdoors…

#weatherReport

Another fine part of the solo #coffeeshop experience is watching the pouring rain outside. Enhances the cozy vibes.

…interrupted only by the explosive bangs of the barista clearing out the portafilter with all their might.

@ottaross the lightning south of us is pretty wild
@fennix Oh! Hadn't heard any rumbles yet.

@ottaross

Pretty intense mostly over Lake Ontario but seems like Kingston and points south might have angered Zeus.

@fennix Whoa, look at that. boom boom.
@ottaross
They have excellent lunches too. I used to walk up from work sometimes and get a lunch/coffee.
@Pinchy63 A nice selection of somewhat interesting sandwiches, wraps and such. I do like their pastries and squares though. They *used to do* a lemon square that was a real treat.
@ottaross There used to be a wonderful little tea shop on Wellington just down the street from where Herb&Spice used to be. Nectar Fine teas. It's shuttered now. *sigh*

@Dianora Oh yes! They were very good. The proprietor was a little cold and impersonal, but we gradually won her over with lots of effusive tea talk and questions.

Yeah, sadly closed. Saw the owner later working in Chez Francois (?) a little shop/sandwich place in Westboro, but that didn't survive the pandemic closures either. ☹️

@ottaross The owner was *very* English. Reminded me of my MIL !
Loved the full tea thing. :-(

@Dianora I once told her I'd made a tea-box and you could see the wheels turning. Prob could've got a little cottage industry going if I'd suggested it, but realized I didn't want to go down that path.

Would've been a good idea though - a custom tea-box, with store-branding, and an assortment of loose teas.

Then again, with laser-cutting… might be feasible with lower effort than the laborious hand-made option.
