The topography of California has always fascinated me, specifically the deserts (mostly the Mojave) of the east. Originally, I believed the Eureka Valley wasn't part of Death Valley, but was pleasantly suprised to learn it's simply an isolated park of the park. (1/2)

@Vanadium22 It wasn't part of Death Valley National Monument, but Death Valley National Park is about twice the size of the old monument!

@valhikes That's true, just glad that park protects more than just Badwater Basin and the immediate area since the Great Basin as a whole is such a beautiful region.
