In almost 25 years as a civil servant I have never felt the need to strike. The responsibility for keeping the country running always was too big. But to keep the line of the previous government and force civil servants - many of whom work in low paying jobs in prisons, customs, cleaning or water management - to forego ANY price compensation (nullijn in dutch) is such an affront that I had to join my colleagues in Rotterdam.
