#Listening to Spiral, a 2023 album by @sknob;

My favourite song is About Time, a melodic rant against wage slavery. Other highlights include;

* Can't Wait, an idiosyncratic love song with a hint of They Might Be Giants and Weezer's self-titled album

* Unreal, which reminds me of kiwi lo-fi legends Tall Dwarfs.

* It’s Cool To Be A Nazi Now, reminiscent of the sardonic agitprop of casiotone-slinging kiwi art-punks Wendyhouse.

Another album Spiral reminds me of is Subliminal Plastic Motives, a 1995 album by Self;

sknob's Can't Wait has a bit of a So Low vibe about it.

If you haven't heard any of the music I'm referencing, check it out, you won't regret it. Similarly, if you want to know what sknob's Spiral sounds like, check it out!

You're very welcome. Thanks for making it and sharing it with the world!

Just out of curiosity, if I @mention @675bc8206d64416941ca24b0, what sort of notification does the BandWagon.fm app give you that you've been mentioned? Can you see this post there? Can you reply?

@benpate

@strypey I would have to follow the bandwagon account with this one to see it pop un in my timeline and have alerts turned on to be notified.

That sounds awkward. Have you tried it, and if so, what was it like to use?

So, Bandwagon is great at broadcasting, and it works well as something like a Fediverse RSS reader, too.

But right now it sucks at DMs and notifications. Call it an artifact of my original newbie-ness with social networks.

That’s getting fixed sooner than later - coincidentally with the work on the E2EE project. In the next month or so, this will be the UX for all private messages (encrypted or not)

This looks great!

Non-public messages have always been a bit of an afterthought on the fediverse. Which is why I was confused at first when people made comparisons with BS/ATProto, saying that's ideal for the public square and AP is better for private social networking.

Great to see apps starting to treat them as a first-class feature, competitive with Matrix apps.
