Not quite the same, if I’m reading skimming this right. What you referenced made a file in the existing Windows partition that contained a virtual hard drive from which Linux was run - notably without repartitioning the physical drive. What OP linked seems to actually repartition the drive to allocate space for Linux to run in its own partition without relying upon a file in the Windows partition - a preferable method, IMHO, because I’d be afraid of the file being deleted accidentally in Windows & losing my entire Linux install.
